Overview

CIT users in the Life and Physical Sciences are issued two sets of credentials for accessing IT resources. Please refer to our FAQs for instructions on how to get accounts. Each account controls access to a different set of services:

Windows (ADS/CHEM-ADS/PSYCH-ADS/RAD domains)

This account controls access to:

• Windows-based computers in many Life and Physical Sciences departments
• Lab Network Attached Storage (NAS) drives
• Login for the following wireless networks (LifeSciGadget and LifeSciBUILDINGNAME)
• Personal Web Sites
• File Sharing (departmental shares, personal shares, etc.)
• Self-Service Tools

UCSBNetID

This account controls access to:

• Connect email / Gmail web interface
• Connect calendar / Gmail web interface
• Departmental reservation pages (rooms, equipment, etc.) AFTER September 16,2018
• Misc other UCSB Services
• eGrades and a host of other campus-level applications
• Campus Wireless Internet
• Updating personal entries in campus directory
• Placing orders through the Campus Gateway Procurement System
